Biggest Box-Office Clashes in 2018
It seems that box office clashes between two or more films has become an integral part of the entertainment industry. Right from Sholay and Jai Santoshi Maa, Lagaan and Gadar to Raees and Kaabil, Bollywood has seen many films locking horns at the ticket windows. Sometimes one film takes over on another or sometimes both work well, though the clash affects the business of both the films. Still, clashes have become an unavoidable part of the business, as there are only 52 weeks in a year and more than 100 film releases.
Like in 2017, we will witness some of the biggest box office clashes in 2018 as well. Here are some of those:
Pari – Aiyaary
Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee’s Aiyaary will lock horns with Anushka Sharma-starrer Pari on February 9, 2018. While Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary is a crime-thriller, debutante Prosit Roy explores the genre of mystery-thriller through Pari. Since both the films cater to the multiplex audience, a good word-of-mouth will play a crucial role for them. However, Aiyaary might have the upper hand at the box office since Neeraj Pandey’s all films like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby and M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story have been received well by the audience.
Parmanu – Hichki
Rani Mukerji’s comeback film, Hichki, and John Abraham’s Parmanu will clash at the box office on February 23. Since both films are unconventional in their own way and target a different group of audience, the clash might not impact the business of the films. As Rani is coming back on silver screen after four years of Mardaani, Hichki will definitely be a much-awaited flick for her fans. On the other hand, John Abraham and Diana Penty’s Parmanu – The story of Pokhran, is based on the nuclear bomb test explosions carried by India at the Indian Army’s Pokhran Test Range in 1998 and will have an audience of its own.
Drive-Hate Story 4
The fourth installment of the erotic-thriller franchise, Hate Story, will lock horns with Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez’s Drive. Like its previous parts, Hate Story 4 will be a blend of thriller and erotica, while Drive is expected to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Since both the films are releasing during the Holi weekend, we can expect a decent opening.
2.0 – October
India’s costliest film ever, 2.0 (Robot 2), might clash with Varun Dhawan-starrer, October. Made on a whopping budget of Rs 400 crore, Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth-starrer sci-fi flick is definitely expected to dominate over October at the box office. As the films are releasing on April 13 which is Tamil New Year (Vishu), 2.0 will surely open with the thunderous response at the box office, but since Varun’s dark film is a well-budgeted flick, it can safely recover its investments too.
Manikarnika – Baaghi 2
Kangana Ranaut’s epic biographical film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, will hit the screens along with Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani’s action entertainer, Baaghi 2 on April 27. Both the films will be made on a massive scale, and the clash will undoubtedly affect their business. But Baaghi 2 will definitely get the advantage because of its previous part as well as for its mass appeal.
Kadvi Hawa Trailer: An epic tale of a bitter truth!
Based on the issue of climate change, Nila Madhab Panda’s ‘Kadvi Hawa’ looks like a dark tale of the villagers of Bundelkhand region who are bearing the brunt of this gruesome conversion. Starring Sanjai Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Tillotama Shome in lead roles, ‘Kadvi Hawa’, got a Special Mention at the 64th National Film Awards too.
The trailer of the film shows that the extreme change in climate in the past few years has caused immense problems for the villagers in the area. While one man is struggling due to lack of water, the other is struggling because his family has drowned in the ocean due to rising water levels. The children in the village don’t even recognize monsoon as a season as they have seen it for just a couple of days in the entire year. The trailer gives the impression that the film would be a dark sinister story that will leave the audience introspecting about the severe effects of climate change.
Director Nila Madhab Panda received immense praise for his directorial debut, ‘I Am Kalam’ (2011). His 2012 film, ‘Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid’ also received acclaim in the international film circuit. With the National Award recognition for ‘Kadvi Hawa’, the film is being expected to amaze its audience. And a stellar cast in place gives us no doubt that the film will be packed with some mind-blowing performances.
‘Kadvi Hawa’ is being produced by Drishyam Films who have earlier produced films like ‘Newton’ (2017), ‘Dhanak’ (2016), ‘Masaan’ (2015) and ‘Ankhon Dekhi’ (2014). ‘Kadwi Hawa’ releases in theaters on November 24.
Firangi Trailer: Kapil Sharma set the expectations high with his pre-independence love story with a twist of comedy!
Finally, the wait is over as the first trailer of TV star Kapil Sharma’s second Bollywood film, Firangi was dropped on Tuesday afternoon and he appears quite endearing in the video.
Directed by Rajiv Dhingra, Firangi also stars Ishita Dutta and Monica Gill in pivotal roles. In the three-minute long video, we see Kapil lying on a cot as he narrates a story to a small kid lying beside him. The story he narrates is, of course, his own. In the film, Kapil plays Monga which grabs a job as a British servant in the pre-independence era of India. Unlike everyone in his village, Monga believes the British are good people and mean no harm to the villagers. However, a turn of events prove him wrong and Monga turns against the foreign rulers. Will he prove his love for his own people or will he be branded as a traitor forever?
The movie also shows a sweet love story of Monga as he falls in love with a nice, Punjabi girl (Ishita Dutta) who just happens to be the granddaughter of one of the leaders of the local movement against the British. Obviously, this romance does not go down well with the old man and the love story comes to an abrupt halt. Will Manga leave the one job he has got in his life for the love of his life? Or will he really be as selfish as others accuse of him being and let his ladylove go?
Well, we will get all our answers on November 24 as the movie is set to be released on the same day.
Trailer of “Ittefaq” will keep you hooked throughout, Akshay steals the show from Sonakshi and Siddharth
Trailer of Ittefaq, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna in the main lead is finally out and it looks promising. The two minute and 30-second trailer will have you on the edge of your seat throughout! After setting high expectations with the impressive and curious posters, the first trailer of the film has been unveiled today morning and it offers an intriguing watch for the audience.
Akshaye Khanna is back with a bang as a cop while Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra take the trailer all together to a different level with their intense and powerful acting. The thumping background score given makes the trailer an interesting watch and promises an edge of the seat thriller.
Ittefaq revolves around Dev (Akshaye Khanna), a police officer, who is investigating a double murder case that has only two witnesses, who are also the prime suspects. The suspects – Vikram (Siddharth Malhotra) an acclaimed writer, and Maya (Sonakshi Sinha), a young homemaker, have different narratives about the events of that fateful night. Both the stories seem true but there can be only one truth. Dev is pissed off with the two versions of the story, and will not settle till he finds out what happened that night. 1 night. 2 murders. 2 suspects, and one is definitely lying. Who is it?
The film is the late filmmaker BR Chopra’s son Abhay Chopra’s directorial debut. Ittefaq is an adaptation of a Yash Chopra film by the same name. The 1969 film starred Rajesh Khanna, Madan Puri and Nanda in lead roles. While Sidharth steps into Rajesh Khanna’s shoes, Nanda’s role will be essayed by Sonakshi. Akshaye plays Madan Puri’s role.
Ittefaq will hit the silver screen on November 3.

Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff to become the new victims of battle of words on Twitter
Twitter makes it easier for people to express their views, opinions, and complaints without any fear. They can speak their heart out. Even celebrities and politicians have started using it on a regular basis to make announcements, express their opinions, and to interact with their audience. But it is true that there are disadvantages of this micro-blogging site as well. Twitter has made slamming and trolling a part and parcel of Twitter users’ lives.
Recently, a battle of words got started between the two action heroes of Indian cinema. Yes, we are talking about Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Almost everyone knows that Tiger Shroff considers Hrithik his guru. Hrithik is the inspiration behind Tiger’s chiselled physique, flexibility, and interest in the hardcore action.

Ranveer Singh to play the titular role in Kapil Dev’s Biopic!
It’s reigning biopics in Bollywood. You can always bank on Bollywood filmmakers to seek inspiration from real-life personalities. Tubelight filmmaker Kabir Khan is the latest to join the biopic bandwagon. Kabir is all set to direct a film on former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev.
There were reports earlier that suggested that Kabir had approached Arjun for this role, but Padmavati actor Ranveer Singh has bagged this role from his Gunday bestie.
Film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to confirm the news and wrote,
— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) September 25, 2017
Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj well known as Kapil Dev is former Indian cricket team Captain. Considered one of the best all-rounders, Kapil was the first Captain who leads India to win its first World Cup in the year 1983.
Ranveer Singh who has always proved his acting chops with the films he has associated with and this film on the former Indian Captain will be Ranveer’s first biopic.
Apparently the makers were keen on roping in Arjun, however, his failure to perform at the box office made the producers pick his buddy.
Well, we are sure that Ranveer will go all out to get into the skin of Kapil Dev’s character. We wish him all the best.
Rajkummar Rao’s “Newton” to go for Oscar 2017
Who could be the happiest and satisfied actor this time other than Rajkummar Rao? His latest release Newton directed by Amit V Masurkar is India’s official film submission to Oscars 2017. Of course, this is another feather in Rajkummar’s cap. The actor has been often ignored by his fraternity seems to be proving his mettle not just as an actor, but also as a commercially viable hero.
This year alone Rao’s three films have received rave reviews and managed to be hit. Rajkummar confirmed news of Newton’s entry to the Oscar with a happy tweet. Incidentally, Newton released in India today on September 22. Rajkummar took to his Twitter handle and share this good news with his fans and well-wishers. Here is his tweet:
— Rajkummar Rao (@RajkummarRao) September 22, 2017
Apart from Newton, Rajkummar had Trapped, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Raabta that released this year. The first two films were loved by the critics and yes, despite Raabta’s dismal performance at the box office people felt that Rajkummar had put his weight behind the film. The actor seems to be at an all-time high. He will soon be seen in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor starrer Fanney Khan. He is also a part of Alt Balaji’s web series on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
In the past, we have had Aamir Khan’s Lagaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Paheli and Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi! that made their way directly to the Oscar 2017nominations.
Haseena Parkar, Bhoomi and Newton going to clash this weekend
This Friday will witness a clash between three big movies Haseena Parkar, Bhoomi and Newton featuring Shraddha Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt-Aditi Rao Hydari and Rajkumar Rao respectively. It will be an enriching experience for the movie lovers as all the movies have different subjects. But expectations are quite higher from Newton as its featuring Rajkummar Rao, the flavour of the season!
There is a sort of trust that has built up in people when it comes to Rao. They are guaranteed some really good performances where he is concerned. Bareilly Ki Barfi is still fresh in our minds. Also, Newton talks about a very important topic of election which has always been mired in controversies. The trailer has already left us in awe of the film and we are pretty sure, the film will double the entertainment.
Watch Newton’s trailer here-
Haseena Parkar will see Shraddha Kapoor in a titular role. It’s a really important film for her because it rests completely on her petite shoulders. She is the hero and heroine of the film and thus, if this works, she will become one of the bankable actresses of the industry.
Watch Haseena Parkar’s trailer here-
As for Bhoomi, it’s Sanjay Dutt’s big comeback in a role he has done before in Pitaah. He was awesome in that and we are certain, he will be brilliant in this one too. The movie also features Aditi Rao Hydari as Sanjay Dutt’s daughter and Sharad Kelkar as the antagonist.
