Sonu Nigam was recently awarded at the 21st Century Icon Awards in London with the prestigious honour of Magnificent Performing Arts Award.
He was one of the winners among different categories at a spectacular Gala ceremony that took place on Friday in London. Many dynamic personalities whether entrepreneurs or successful individuals had gotten nominated from all around the globe.
Along with Sonu Nigam, Kalli Puri who is the Vice-Chairperson of India Today Group also won the Outstanding Media and Entertainment Award.
The 21st Century Icon Award is prestigious awards started by UK-based Indian-origin entrepreneurs Tarun Ghulati and Preeti Rana. They said that in 2019, there were more than 700 nominations out of which 44 finalists had to be selected. The panel of judges was also diverse including British Indian peer Baroness Sandip Verma, former British Olympic champion Denise Lewis as well as Ibukun Adebayo from London Stock Exchange’s International Markets Unit.
The other winners at the ceremony in different categories were: Charlotte Crosswell (Specialist Professional Award); Asha De Vos (Inspirational Icon Award) and Rachael Burford (Competitive Sports Award.)
While speaking on the occasion, Sonu Nigam said, “I am truly humbled to be chosen for this award. The nominations were from 22 different countries and it means a lot to me that I was the one chosen for this honour.”
Ghulati and Rana, organisers of the annual event, said, “The next generation of leaders and businesses are truly inspiring and we are absolutely thrilled to be a part of their journey and continued success.”
