Vicky Kaushal to play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw


After his performance in Uri, Vicky Kaushal has gained a lot of popularity for showcasing excellent acting skills and talent. Based on true events and incidences, he is now all set to portray his expertise through another movie displaying 1971 war hero Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Sam Manekshaw, in 1971, was the chief of the Indian Army which is when India fought the Bangladesh Liberation War with Pakistan.
Vicky has created a benchmark with his back to back excellent performances in movies based on true events like Raazi and Uri. He has with his outstanding and bizarre performances, attracted a huge fan following among the public especially girls and women.

When asked about how he felt to work as an Army Veteran he said, “It is complete honour for me to get the opportunity to play the life of Sam Manekshaw. Also, reuniting with Ronnie Screwvala and Meghna Gulzar feels like home because of the tremendous comfort level we share. We are thrilled to bring forward the story of a fearless patriot and the First Field Marshal of India”.

After Raazi, it is the second collaboration between the director and the actor. The announcement for the movie was made on the day that marks the 11th death anniversary of honorable Sam Manekshaw.

“The swashbuckling general & the first Field Marshal of India, SAM MANEKSHAW. I feel honoured & proud of getting a chance to unfold his journey on the screen. Remembering him on his death anniversary and embracing the new beginnings with meghnagulzar and @RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies” was tweeted by the actor along with one of his still from the upcoming movie, dressed as Sam Manekshaw.

Fans are already excited about the movie. Though no release date has been announced, it is not expected to release this year with the shooting still going on at scheduled times.
